How do you start something? You just start.

Heidi Kunsman

One year ago, I attended the Tony Robbins "Unleash The Power Within" seminar. I went there to explore my fears, my passions, what was holding me back, my hidden powers, and to uncover what I really wanted to do with my life.

At the time, I was working at an incredible design firm in Denver, CO. I had started as an intern, to begin my new career as an Interior Designer. However, my experience, expertise, and the fact that I allowed myself to slip back into my comfort zone led me down a very different path. Five years later, I was Principal at this firm. But not as a Designer. Instead, I was leading the Marketing and Business Development team, and was now being offered Partnership. Wow - I've accomplished so much! I should accept this incredible offer! However, I new I was unfulfilled.

I agreed to completely immerse myself in the seminar, diving in 100%. I'll admit, the first part of Day One I felt ridiculous - jumping up and down, waving my hands in the air?!?! But I did it anyway. By day four I could barely stay seated when we were supposed to. I did the work and delved into my deepest darkest fears. I walked across hot coals, which is one of the coolest and most powerful things I've ever done. I get the chills just thinking about how I felt when I reached the other side!! I imagined what my life would be like if I followed my dreams. What it would be like if I didn't. I uncovered my super powers - my creativity, my compassion, my drive, my desire to help others, my authenticity, my kindness, and my overall passion for life!

The seminar started on Thursday. By Saturday, I knew I needed to start a new career path and tap back into my creative side. I knew deep in my heart that I am a Designer and an Entrepreneur. I realized I would never be truly happy if I did not follow my dreams, and create a rich, fulfilling life for myself. So the plan was to finish out the year, save some money, and start my own company in January 2018.

If you want to take over the island, you’ve got to burn the boats.

Saturday afternoon, I spoke with a volunteer, Laticia. I can't even describe her incredible enthusiasm - she was filled with energy & light, and was thrilled to be giving back! I was so excited to share my breakthrough and my plan for 2018, until she told me her story.

Laticia had been a divorce lawyer for several years and was in the process of becoming a judge when she first attended "Unleash The Power Within". It was there that she realized: A.) Her career was one filled with conflict, anger, and arguing, B.) Her career was in conflict with who she was as a person, and C.) She was about to commit to this career for the rest of her life.

When Tony said: "If you want to take over the island, you've got to burn the boats", Laticia decided she needed to burn the boats. Immediately! She quit her job when she returned and opened up a Mediation Practice. Now, she's using her skills to help people through the divorce process. Assist people in coming to agreements. To stop the fighting and encourage people resolve their conflicts peacefully. She is wildly successful and could not be happier!

We can change our lives. We can do, have, and be exactly what we wish.

The moment she finished sharing her story, I committed to give my notice on Monday. I did not know the "how", but I knew if I moved forward without fear, the solutions and the "how", would present themselves to me. I would fill in the blanks as I went along, because this was the right path for me; I would be true to my heart.

Sunday, I sat next to a woman named Cristy and we compared notes. I told her I was starting my own Interior Decorating business the next day. This is the first time I had proclaimed this (other than to Laticia) out loud. Turns out, Cristy had just closed on a new house and she instantly became my first client. That was it - I was an Interior Decorator! Amazing how the Universe works! How powerful it is to be in action and the results that are manifested!!

My Story

Heidi Kunsman

Did you know what you wanted to be when you grew up? Have you ever thought about returning to your original passion? I've loved working on art projects ever since I was a little kid! At one point, I was even determined to become a professional colorer. True story. Luckily my skills and aspirations both evolved. Throughout high school I enjoyed working with pencil, charcoal, pastels, pen & ink, and paint. This is also when I became passionate about floral design.

I trained in design and marketing at Ithaca College, graduating with a degree in Fine Art and Advertising. From there, of course, I became an Account Executive, selling computer technology. Yes, I did. After several years of learning and growing in that space, I rediscovered my creative self and launched an Event Design company for large parties/galas, weddings, and corporate functions. Exciting, fulfilling, beautiful, and joyful work!

I developed my Interior Design expertise through programs at New York School of Interior Design, University of Oklahoma, and The Art Institute of Colorado. After five amazing years as a Principal at a commercial kitchen design firm here in Denver, I decided to jump fully into Interior Decorating. In The Vorteks was born!

I absolutely love the path I've chosen, the people I work with, and the incredible projects I get to be a special part of!

Please feel free to email me at any time. I'd love to hear from you!
